| 英文描述 | TRYPANOSOMA CRUZI is a protozoal agent that primarily attacks myocardial cells. In the U.S., most common in the south; spread by insects of the family REDUVIIDAE (kissing bugs or assassin bugs). Granulomatous myocarditis results in signs of cardiac dysfunction; there can be neurologic signs referable to meningoencephalitis; autonomic dysfunction can be associated with megaesophagus and megacolon; and there can be subclinical infection. Typically affects young dogs. Has zoonotic potential. Dx by culture of the organism from blood, or by histopathology at necropsy. |
